About Holy Family University

Holy Family University is a fully accredited Catholic, private, coeducational, 4-year university, located in the Torresdale section of Philadelphia, which is the largest city in the US state of Pennsylvania, having a population estimated at a number of more than 1.54 million inhabitants, during the 2008 census, fact which also makes it the 6th most populous city in USA.

Holy Family University was founded in 1954, by the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, its establishment marking the culmination of an evolutionary cycle that began in 1934, with the opening of the Holy Family Teacher Training School. The institution achieved fully accreditation 7 years, after its founding, from the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, status which was renewed in '71, '81, '91 and 2001.

In addition to the main campus in Philadelphia, Holy Family University also has branches in Newton, 2 locations on Bristol Pike in Bensalem, including in South Philly.

Athletics

Holy Family's athletic teams are known as the Tigers, which compete in NCAA Division II, in several sports, for both men and women, including in basketball, soccer, golf, softball, tennis and track and field. Their distinctive colors are baby blue and black.
